Description

Provide technical and administrative support on all projects being carried out by the Jamaica National Heritage Trust whilst managing relationship between the stakeholders and the project team.

The Jamaica National Heritage Trust (JNHT) a Statutory Agency of the Ministry of Culture, Gender, Entertainment & Sport seeks to fill the vacancy of Project Officer, SOG/ST 5 (Salary range $1,271,811 – $1,511,784).

                                                     Job Summary

Under the direct supervision of the Director, Project Management & Implementation the Project Officer is responsible for providing technical and administrative support on all projects being carried out within the organization whist managing relationships between stakeholders and the project team.  The Project Officer works with the project team to see to the successful and timely completion of all projects.

KEY RESPONSIBILITES & COMPETENCIES

  • Assist in the preparation of Terms of Reference for various projects to be undertaken by the department;
  • Arrange and be in attendance of all project meetings with members of the project team working out all the logistics for the meeting;
  • Ensure that all contracts for projects are properly managed and executed in keeping with the agreed terms of reference;
  • Maintain all crucial project documents which track project progress and file all project documents in an appropriate database or library, ensuring that all documents are accurate and have been accepted by the Director, Project Management & Implementation;
  • Identify and report to the Director, Project Management & Implementation any potential issues or risks that could affect the progression and timely completion of the project. The report should communicate clearly possible solutions to the problems identified;
  • Manage and facilitate the flow of essential information between the project team and other stakeholders;
  • Closely monitor all project schedules ensuring that deadlines for each task is being kept and check at regular intervals to see whether deadlines assigned to each task is still possible, and report any potential delays to the Director, Project Management & Implementation;
  • Assist with the development plan for each project;
  • Monitor and manage the budget for each project; through close and constant monitoring, report any budget overruns or savings on projects;
    • Excellent written, and oral communication skills;
    • Strong analytical skills;
    • High level of initiative, professionalism, good work ethics;
    • Ability to work under pressure and handle challenging situations;
    • Superior organizational, customer service, human relation and interpersonal skills; and
    • Must be an effective team player.

QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Associate degree in Business Management, construction or equivalent;
  • Professional Certification in Project Management;
  • Knowledge in the restoration and preservation of historical buildings; and
  • three (3) years experience in a similar position.
  • Must own and operate a reliable motor vehicle
